If you’re looking for a special meal with your loved one this Valentine’s day, OpenTable has compiled a list of the country’s most romantic restaurants.

The online restaurant booking service has analysed restaurant reviews in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh to find the best places for a romantic meal. The website laid out its recommendations based on over 340,000 reviews across the country.

Covent Garden based restaurant Clos Maggiore tops the list for London. Offering French cuisine and an incredible selection of over 2500 wines, the restaurant, which describes itself as “an oasis of calm”, has been awarded three AA-rosettes since 2008. Diners can enjoy the Oven roasted corn fed chicken leg stuffed with Morteau sausage for £18.90 and, for vegetarians, the oven baked globe artichoke and tomme brulée costs a slightly-lower £17.50.

In Manchester, the top spot was given to family-run Albert’s Worsley, which primarily offers British and Italian dishes, ranging from pot roast beef for £16.50 to oven baked gnocchi for £9.50. This Valentine’s, the restaurant also offers a VIP package, costing £45 per head, which offers three courses, a glass of Prosecco on arrival and individually wrapped red rose and petit fours.

Edinburgh’s couples can enjoy a trip to Angels with Bagpipes. Found on Edinburgh’s most historic and iconic street, The Royal Mile, offers a selection of traditional Scottish dishes. Its a la carte menu includes Ayrshire pork belly for £17.50 and pumpkin risotto for £14.95. The restaurant describes itself as having “upmost pride in sourcing fresh Scottish ingredients” and boasts a choice of over 50 bottles of wine.

Topping the list in Birmingham and Glasgow are Anderson’s Bar & Grill and The Butchershop Bar & Grill respectively.

Finding that 89% of Brits are keen to try somewhere new on Valentine’s Day, according to a survey of 2,000 diners, the website recommends booking before the special day.
