Imagine never having to rustle through drawers or shoeboxes to find that crucial car-related document. That is the idea behind newly launched website Motoriety.

It offers the UK’s first online platform where vehicle owners can manage all aspects of car ownership, administration and maintenance. Making use of cloud-based technology, users can securely store important documents and log repairs that are digitally verified by garages. Motoriety also sends out email reminders to alert users when services and MOTs are due, or when insurance, tax and breakdown cover needs to be renewed, helping car owners avoid penalties and fines.

It may also aid owners in ensuring their cars have a full service history. Independent analysis shows that having this can add up to a quarter to the value of a second hand vehicle.

“The onerous amount of admin involved in owning and maintaining a car is ridiculous, and it’s all fragmented. Until now, there was no centralised tool designed to manage every bit of it,” Lucy Burnford, founder of Motoriety, said. The website will also allow ranking of garages for service and cost to reduce the chances of being ripped off.
