Hibernian star Jason Cummings banned from McDonald’s after 'throwing McMuffins at staff'

Hibernian striker Jason Cummings was today left with egg on his face after being banned from his local McDonald's branch for allegedly throwing muffins at staff.

The 19-year-old was reportedly spotted in the early hours launching the breakfast snack at members of staff at the fast-food chain's Gorgie Road branch in Edinburgh.

It is not yet known whether the weapon of choice was sweet or savoury, with egg-based McMuffins also available on the menu.

Cummings did not feature during his side’s 3-0 victory over Dumbarton at the weekend - fuelling speculation he had been disciplined internally at Easter Road.

A McDonald’s spokeswoman told the Daily Record: "Following behaviour deemed to be unacceptable, we are in the process of writing to this individual, informing him of our decision to ban him from Gorgie Road restaurant.

"We take antisocial behaviour very seriously."

There has been no statement from the player or his club, while it remains to be revealed what, if any, punishment he will face.

Cummings is believed to be adamant that he did nothing wrong and was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"Jason has been left quite upset by these allegations and wants to stress that he did nothing wrong," a source close to the player told the Daily Record.

"He was in the wrong place at the wrong time and got caught up in something that wasn't his doing.

"Thankfully, he has the full support of the club and his manager, Alan Stubbs and, as ever, he's working hard to get back in the team for their game against Alloa on Saturday.

"He just wants to put this behind him and get on with scoring goals for Hibs."
