The film industry has lost one of its biggest talents with the passing of composer James Horner, who died in a plane crash in California aged 61.

The American musician worked on over 100 films with the likes of Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, James Cameron, Oliver Stone and Ron Howard.

Horner’s Oscar-winning score for the Titanic is the best-selling orchestral film soundtrack of all time, for which he co-wrote the song “My Heart Will Go On” with Will Jennings for Celine Dion.

He earned eight other Oscar nominations for his work on Avatar, House of Sand and Fog, A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13, Braveheart, Field of Dreams, An American Tail and Aliens.
