Cynthia Lennon dead: John Lennon's ex-wife dies aged 75
A representative of Lennon said her sole child, Julian Lennon, was by her side
Cynthia Lennon has died.
The ex-wife of John Lennon passed away at the age of 75 from cancer.
A representative of Lennon said her sole child with the late Beatle, Julian Lennon, was by her side.
“Cynthia Lennon passed away today at her home in Mallorca, Spain following a short but brave battle with cancer," a statement on Julian's website read.
“Her son Julian Lennon was at her bedside throughout. The family are thankful for your prayers. Please respect their privacy at this difficult time.”
Cynthia was born on 10 September 1938 to a middle-class family in the North West of England. She met Lennon for the first time at the Liverpool College of Art, where they both attended a calligraphy class together.
The pair married on 23 August 1962 at the Mount Pleasant registry office after she became pregnant.
The couple’s divorce was granted in 1968 after the late Beatle left Cynthia for Yoko Ono.
