Moors murderer Ian Brady - most famous for kidnapping, torturing and murdering five children with Myra Hindley - has announced who he's supporting in the General Election.

Brady publicised his political leanings as part of a broader rant in a series of letters.

In the disturbing missives, Brady said he hopes that Ukip and the SNP obliterate the Liberal Democrat, Labor and Conservative parties.

"Politicians of today?" he wrote. "Compared to the only truly democratic and altruistic peoples’ government ever elected, Labour 1945, the UK corrupt, greedmotivated [sic] political vermin of today, aren’t worth even assassination, all being Tory clerks/lackeys.

"However, I hope that UKIP not only wipes out the Lib-Dems but also decimates the Tory and Labour vote, and that the SNP achieves the same in Scotland.

"In addition, I hope the IRA is reactivated, as promised for a united Ireland."

Brady was imprisoned for life in 1966 for murdering five children in Manchester and burying them on the Saddleworth Moor.

In the letters, Brady attacks the British media, branding it "servile".

He wrote: "The corporate controlled (including the BBC) lower middle class, collusive, servile media generate a false appearance if of democracy and free speech, in a now spineless population constantly asking, "am I allowed to say (this and that)?" [sic]

Leaving no stone unturned, Brady also criticised Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg, remarking that "the Scottish dictionary definition of 'Cleg' [sic] is, aptly, "a course grey bloodsucking horsefly".

He added that he got most of his news from Teletext and Arabic broadcaster Al Jazeera.

He signed off one of his letters by chirpily opining: "Ironically in my half century of imprisonment, I discovered that most professional criminals are Tory voters!"

In recent years, Brady has refused to disclose to the family Keith Bennett, one of his victims, where he buried the child's body so they could give him a proper funeral.

Bennett's mother died in 2012 still desperate to know where her son had been left.

He has spoken of his declining health, and in June 2013 lost his bid to be moves from Ashworth psychiatric hospital to a prison in Scotland.

The tribunal found Brady "that continues to suffer from a mental disorder which is of a nature and degree which makes it appropriate for him to continue to receive medical treatment, and that it is necessary for his health and safety and for the protection of other persons that he should receive such treatment in hospital, and that appropriate medical treatment is available for him."
