London’s tourist attractions are the most googled in the world, according to new research.

Three of the capital’s museums make up the most searched-for museums across the globe, with the Science Museum coming out on top.

The Natural History Museum is the second most googled and the British Museum is the third.

The New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC came in fourth and fifth place respectively.

The research, which was carried out by London & Partners - the capital's official promotional company - to launch London’s Autumn Season of Culture, also revealed that the capital is the most searched for city in the world to visit.

“London is without a doubt the cultural capital of the world,” said Boris Johnson.

”Tourists are flocking to our great city in ever-increasing numbers, drawn by our exceptional cultural attractions and landmarks.”
