Full House star John Stamos almost had Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen fired for crying too much
No wonder the twins have since retired from acting and moved into fashion
It might be hard to imagine your tweenage years without the Olsen twins, but Full House star John Stamos has revealed how close he came to having them fired.
Mary-Kate and Ashley were cast as Michelle Tanner on the ABC sitcom aged just nine months in 1987 and continued to share the role right up until 1995. But working with young children can test anyone's patience, and Stamos has admitted that he almost reached breaking point.
"It's sort of true that the Olsen twins cried a lot," he said on the Television Critics Association press tour. "It was very difficult to get the shot. So I [gestures], 'Get them out...!' That is actually 100 per cent accurate.
"They brought in a couple of unattractive redhead kids. We tried that for a while and that didn't work. [The producers] were like, all right, get the Olsen twins back, and that's the story."
TV reboots in pictures
Show all 12Sadly, it is looking unlikely that the Olsens will be joining Stamos for the Netflix reboot Fuller House, which is reuniting the original cast members for 13 episodes. The sisters retired as actresses in 2012 to focus on forging careers in fashion instead.
