It's day one of Wimbledon. That most British of sporting events.

The sun is shining in SW19, Andy Murray is still one of the favourites and we can expect wall-to-wall coverage from Auntie Beeb.

Strawberries and cream, warm champers, straw hats, jumpers tied around shoulders. etc etc etc. It could only get more British if the action on court was usurped by (redacted for later).

As men's favourite Novak Djokovic took the court against Philipp Kohlschreiber, the BBC seemed anxious to confuse their viewers.

First of all they decided, for some reason, to keep the replay sign up in the top right of the corner when play started - literally dozens of viewers could have been left confused.

Confusion reigns thanks to a replay sign

Then, rather than show the best male tennis player in the world right now as he broke serve against his opponent, the channel opted to give close up coverage to a blue tit that had invaded centre court.

Time and again they went back to the little bird, leaving another dozen confused about whether they had switched onto Springwatch.

The show-stopper

Here are some obligatory Tweets about the tit:

Summer is here.
