It just gets worst for Manchester United and chief negotiator Ed Woodward.

Just a day after losing out on Barcelona winger Pedro to rivals Chelsea, neighbours Manchester City have announced the signing of former United target Nicolas Otamendi.

Woodward, who had been in Barcelona to negotiate a deal for Pedro on Wednesday, was hailed as a genius earlier in the summer after moving quickly to bring Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Matteo Darmian to Old Trafford.

But all that good will has flown out of the window in less than 24 hours.

After being relentlessly picked on and laughed at after the Blues beat United to Pedro on Wednesday evening, the laughter has continued with City's capture of the Valencia centre-back.
