Drake has pulled out of headlining this weekend’s Wireless Festival in London and Birmingham.

The Toronto rapper had fallen ill earlier this week and his doctors have forced him not to cancel his performances.

The “Take Care” star sent the following message to his fans apologising for the disappointment: “To my beloved fans, it truly breaks my heart that I won’t be able to perform as planned at Wireless and Roskilde this weekend.

“I got sick a few days ago and although I am on my way to bouncing back, my doctors have made it clear that I am not physically fit to fly or deliver the performance my fans expect and deserve from me.

“I will be focused on resting for a quick recovery. I have the best fans in the world and I can’t wait to come back to make more incredible memories together.”

To replace Drake at the last minute, Kanye West will perform a second headline show on Saturday night in London, with Rudimental playing an extended set in Birmingham with as-yet-unannounced “very special guests”.

Ticket holders attending the 4th July show in Birmingham will receive £20 worth of 'Wireless Credit' upon arrival, which can be redeemed anywhere on site on food, beverages, merchandise and the funfair. This will not be applicable in London.

Fans wanting refunds can request these from their ticket seller before the event but not at the event. Anyone who makes use of their ticket to attend the show will not be entitled to a refund.
