Liverpool vs Arsenal combined XI: Raheem Sterling and Alexis Sanchez are there, but who else makes the team?

Who comes out on top if the teams were put together?

Arsenal arrive at Anfield on the back of a truly brilliant week.

Following an embarrassing defeat at Stoke, Arsene Wenger's team hit back at critics with two performances of the highest order against Galatasaray and Newcastle and will be confident of resigning the Reds to another defeat.

Liverpool may have impressed against Bournemouth in midweek, but Arsenal will, obviously, provide a huge step up in class compared with the Cherries.

Brendan Rodgers' team actually played quite well in spells at Old Trafford but were badly let down by poor defending and Raheem Sterling's wastefulness. The England youngster scored two on the South Coast and remains their most potent attacking threat.

For Arsenal Olivier Giroud and Mathieu Debuchy coming back from injury has provided a welcome boost while Alexis Sanchez, who was Liverpool's top target in the summer, continues to excel in the division.

Last season Liverpool destroyed Arsenal with four goals in the opening 16 minutes. The Reds are a much different team now and with Chelsea and Manchester City seemingly running away with the division and Manchester United beginning to gather momentum, these two look like they will be fighting for a single Champions League spot.

The battle for fourth starts at Anfield.

Presuming the teams line-up as below:

Liverpool (3-4-3): Jones; Toure, Skrtel, Lovren; Henderson, Lucas, Gerrard, Markovic; Coutinho, Lallana, Sterling.

Arsenal (4-3-3): Szczesny; Debuchy, Chambers, Mertesacker, Gibbs; Flamini, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Cazorla; Sanchez, Welbeck, Giroud.

Final score: Liverpool 3 Arsenal 8
