Jose Mourinho said today that Diego Costa has "a little chance" of playing against Manchester United on Sunday, despite having been in hospital this week.

The Chelsea striker was treated for a virus during the earlier part of the week but will train with the first team tomorrow.

Mourinho said: "He has a chance, he has a little chance. Loic Remy has no chance. Diego a little chance, the same as John Obi Mikel and Ramires. The only one I can confirm has no chance is Remy.

"Everything happened to him [Costa]. He was obviously injured. That was a hamstring.

"He had to go to hospital with a viral situation that we didn't manage to resolve without being in hospital over one night.

"That was before Maribor. Against Maribor he wouldn't have been ready from the injury, no chance. But being ill didn't help him in the process to recover because we didn't want him at Cobham.

"The medical staff had to go to his house because didn't want to bring him here with the viral situation."

Mourinho said that the importance of the game against United had not diminished, despite the struggles that the club has been through.

"Man United is Man United. For me it doesn't matter who the manager is, the moment, the table, the players. Man United is Man United and I always look at them independent of these factors."
