CHELSEA BOUND...

As speculation surrounding an unlikely move for Lionel Messi increases, the true cost of a move for the Barcelona superstar has supposedly been revealed.

According to The Sun, if Chelsea or Manchester City were to move for the 27-year-old, he would cost a huge £500million in total - taking into account the price of the transfer fee and wages.

However, according to the BBC, only Manchester United and Real Madrid earn enough revenue to pay such a figure and satisfy Financial Fair Play. If Chelsea or City were to move for Mess, they would have to pay instalments over several years to avoid huge sanctions.

THE DEAL'S OFF...

Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane continues to be linked with the Blues and Manchester United, although a deal may have to wait for the summer.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has ruled out a move for Petr Cech, saying he already has three good quality goalkeepers.

HEADING FOR THE EXIT...

Despite Jose Mourinho wanting to keep the German winger, Wolfsburg will test Chelsea's resolve after they reportedly bid £23.5m for Andre Schurrle.

Chelsea youngster Lewis Baker has agreed to join Sheffield Wednesday on loan until the end of the season.

The Portland Timbers of MLS may well offer Didier Drogba one last payday - the Chelsea legend only has a contract until the end of the season and may retire and take up a coaching role or continue for another season.
