Next year will mark ten years since the release of live-action Disney film Enchanted and it seems, to celebrate such a landmark, the planned sequel has landed a director.

It's currently unconfirmed whether Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey will return for the follow-up which is currently moving ahead under the working title Disenchanted - but Adam Shankman (Hairspray) will oversee proceedings.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel will be set ten years later with Giselle (Adams) questioning whether Robert (Dempsey) really is the man of her dreams.

The original Enchanted, which also stars Westworld actor James Marsden, Susan Sarandon and Idina Menzel, was a box office hit grossing £275 million worldwide.

Adams will next be seen in Denis Villeneuve drama Arrival and Tom Ford's Nocturnal Animals, while Dempsey most recently starred in Bridget Jones's Baby.

Patrick Dempsey admits he would do TV again

Disenchanted is expected to begin shooting next summer with a release date of 2018.
