Wine is secret to long life, says 100-year-old woman
'I like my wine. Don't take it away from me,' said Florence Bearse
A 100-year-old woman has revealed the secret to her long life, and it will please those of us who enjoy a glass of red.
Florence Bearse claimed the recipe for longevity had only one ingredient: wine.
She celebrated a century of life at her care home in Bangor, Maine.
Asked about how she had lived such a long life, the centenarian told local TV station WLBZ: "I like my wine. Don't take it away from me."
She was joined by family and friends at her birthday party for cake, gifts, balloons - and, of course, a bottle of her favourite tipple.
The former restaurant owner, born in Massachusetts, said she had dedicated her life to serving others.
And she had some further advice for anyone looking to make it to 100.
"Don't take any baloney,” Ms Bearse said.
