Will Gosling respond with a t-shirt of his own?
Will Gosling respond with a t-shirt of his own? (Pizza Underground/Twitter)

When Macaulay Culkin wore a T-shirt of Ryan Gosling wearing a T-shirt of Macaulay Culkin in his Home Alone days for a Twitter pic this week, the internet was never going to let the joke lie.

Let us trace the saga so far:

22 March, 2013. Ryan Gosling wears a T-shirt of Macaulay Culkin's LIFE cover.

12 May, 2014. Pizza Underground post a photo of Macaulay Culkin wearing a t-shirt of Ryan Gosling wearing the T-shirt of Macaulay Culkin and generally being the mega chill dude that he is.

13 May, 2014. Someone unconvincingly Photoshops an old photo of The Gos implying that he has within 24 hours somehow sourced a T-shirt with a print of the Macaulay Culkin wearing Ryan Gosling wearing Macaulay Culkin photo.

14 May, 2014. Dispensing with any pretence of authenticity, someone else even more dodgily Photoshops a random photo of Macaulay Culkin wearing a tee that depicts Ryan Gosling wearing a T-shirt of Macaulay Culkin wearing a t-shirt of Ryan Gosling wearing a T-shirt of Macaulay Culkin.

Where will the Gosling-Culkin T-shirt nexus end? With an infinite recursion loop of the two child stars that gets so intensely minute as to implode the internet and create a black hole? And more importantly, when will Twitter meta fan Patrick Stewart get involved?
